Scrum Methodology
Learn the Scrum Methodology
The Scrum methodology of agile software development marks a dramatic departure from waterfall management. In fact, Scrum and other agile processes were inspired by its shortcomings. The Scrum methodology emphasizes communication and collaboration, functioning software, and the flexibility to adapt to emerging business realities — all attributes that suffer in the rigidly ordered waterfall paradigm.
About
Hello and thanks for v
isiting the Scrum Methodology blog. This blog was set up and administered by Danube (authors of ScrumWorks and leaders in the Scrum Training industry) in August 2008. This site is intended for anyone interested in learning more about Scrum.
Today, I am the admin behind the site. My name is Laszlo Szalvay, I was the President and Co-Founder of Danube, a Scrum success company founded in 2000. In February 2010 Danube was acquired by industry leading ALM visionary and Subversion founders and corporate sponsor CollabNet. Today I travel globally on behalf of CollabNet talking about Scrum to large organizations.
Navigating this blog – The older posts are intended for beginners, so if you are new to Scrum and Agile, start with the “archives section” and then work your way forwards to more advanced topics. If you are an existing practitioner then I think you’ll be delighted with where I want to take the blog in 2013. My goals for the site in 2013 will be delving into a number of issues that I think are of interest to the readership. These topics will include:
- Enterprise Cloud Development – this will be a six part series that includes links to Slideshare where I will try to explain what this new software category is all about and why it matters to the SDLC.
- Deconstructing Jeff – Jeff Sutherland, co-founder of Scrum, has released a 200+ page report called “The Scrum Papers.” I will be releasing sections of it together with my own analysis and asking for your feedback. As a community we will deconstruct what Jeff and his team have recognized over the years and hopefully have a fruitful conversation.
- Building Learning Cultures – I will discuss my thoughts on why we need to focus on learning and culture before talking about transformation.
- Events Calendar – This is a new tab that will be added where you can get a sense of where CollabNet will be so that you can meet us in person. These events are usually free or part of a paid conference. If you are a conference organizer and want us to do a speaking engagement, please just contact me via LinkedIn.
- Guest Bloggers – I will be reaching out to some friends to see if they want to contribute to the site so that the readership gets differing points of view. If you want to do a guest blogging series on this site – please do feel free to pitch me on your idea.
I hope you will come along on this journey with me. Please do create an RSS feed and come back and comment frequently. And as always if you have substantial questions, please do reach out to me personally via LinkedIn or via the corporate CollabNet website.

How do you go about recertifiying for scrum master
Annie – best thing to do is to contact Scrum Alliance via their website.
i head about scrum this year as we were going to use it in our project, the first time i head about it it was a nightmare to me but as i continue to ready and study about it,it now seem so interested.I AM LOOKING FORWARD AND READY FOR A CHALLENGE.
Hi
I am studying project management and about to do my dissertation. I was seeking to do some investigations into agile scrum. I was hoping to be able to contact a number of users to identify lessons learned when using agile scrum. I hoped to issue a short survey. I was also interested in any developments that might be proposed or under consideration to improve this methodology. Would you be able to assist me.
I also noted that some research had been carried out by the co-founder and wondered if I could refer to that in my work.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Hi Irene,
Thanks for your post. Please contact me offline via LinkedIn or via my email (laz @ collab [d0t] nEt) and I should be able to help you out.
