The Scrum methodology of agile software development marks a dramatic departure from waterfall management. In fact, Scrum and other agile processes were inspired by its shortcomings. The Scrum methodology emphasizes communication and collaboration, functioning software, and the flexibility to adapt to emerging business realities — all attributes that suffer in the rigidly ordered waterfall paradigm.

About

Welcome! This blog is for anyone who is interested in learning more about Scrum. In short, the Scrum method of agile management is an approach to software development that occurs incrementally and iteratively. Unlike waterfall, Scrum demands that Product Owners and Teams continually evaluate a project’s direction to ensure it is competitive in the marketplace upon release. This site will feature posts that discuss Scrum’s fundamental processes and principles as well as best practices.

    Hi.

In regards to a master thesis I’m working on I was wondering if you know any or have self been involved in Scrum projects were offshoring have been used.

If so I would like to talk to you (or those you know) about the experience made during those kind of projects.

    Kind regards,
    Cato Haukeland

Hi Cato. While I personally haven’t worked on any Scrum projects that employed off-shore labor, I’m sure it happens frequently among enterprise-level corporations. Scrum’s emphasis on collocation is, in many ways, antithetical to the realities of the modern business world. If organizations can’t change those realities (such as offshoring), they can at least change how they work. Thus, we’ve seen a rise in Scrum- and agile-focused management tools that seek to deliver small team Scrum’s benefits to those teams that aren’t collocated. I’m sorry I can’t provide you with specific examples, but I’m very curious to hear more about your thesis…
